Disclaimer: FEES is an advanced and complex medical procedure. FEES training from any provider should be designed to introduce and teach the necessary fundamentals of safe endoscopy use, FEES procedures, and introductory scoring and analyses. Each training course should provide supervised endoscopy learning with normal volunteers. Two-day, introductory FEES training is not designed to train the clinician to the level of independent competency. Competency comes with further skill development and continued learning, and with mentoring from an experienced FEES clinician assessing real patients, i.e. a surgical resident learning from a seasoned attending surgeon.
