Description
SA Swallowing Services (SASS) offers a rigorous, one-week competency training experience in Nashville, Tennessee for qualified SLPs*. Trainees accompany a SASS Clinical Associate to nursing care facilities and rehabilitation hospitals to provide FEES assessments to the residents and patients in those facilities. The Trainee will gain first-hand experience with equipment and test foods set-up and use, with endoscopic insertion and manipulation, and completing studies using standardized FEES protocols. Upon completion, the Trainee will analyze each video-recorded study using scoring systems to quantify thirteen variables comprising airway protection and swallowing peristalsis functions. From these results, the Trainee will problem-solve and interpret the findings ending in a concisely written report.
*Qualified SLPs – To qualify for this competency training experience, the prospective Trainee must complete the Basic FEES training course from SA Swallowing Services only before being considered for training. This is to ensure the Trainee is familiar with the procedures, protocols, analysis, and reporting systems used by SASS Clinical Associates. Important: The trainee must be approved by SASS before paying the training fee. DO NOT register for this training until you have been approved and scheduled by either Matthew Ward or Michelle Skelley.
Costs: $3000.00 (For in-Nashville training only). Payment may be divided into two payments. $1500.00 will hold an agreed-upon training date for the trainee. Full payment must be received one week prior to the start of training. Transportation, accommodations, and meals are not included.
