Course Date: July 28 & 29, 2018

Purpose:

To provide a two-day videostroboscopy training course for Speech-Language Pathologists in the use of rigid and flexible endoscopy to assess the health and function of the vocal folds during phonation.

Objectives: At the completion of this course participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the anatomy required for normal voicing, and describe physiology and biomechanics of normal vocal fold vibration;
  2. Describe two phenomena of visual perceptions of apparent motion, and how these phenomena are used in stroboscopy to assess vocal fold vibration;
  3. Describe the roles of the voice therapist and the otolaryngologist in the use of stroboscopy information in patient voice care;
  4. Describe and use a standard comprehensive voice evaluation procedure including a stroboscopy recording protocol;
  5. Identify abnormal vocal fold vibration patterns, and determine the underlying structural, biomechanical and aerodynamic reasons for those abnormalities.

Continuing Education Credit:

This course is offered for 1.5 ASHA CEU’s (Intermediate Level; Professional Area). SASS is an ASHA CE Provider.

Program Completion Requirements: Participants are expected to be present for the entire program. Individuals who are not present for the full program will not be recommended for ASHA CEUs. No partial credit will be provided.

Course Location:

Select Specialty Hospital, 2004 Hayes Street, Nashville, Tennessee. All courses held on first floor, Charity Hall Education Facility. After registering for a course, a Letter of Confirmation and course agenda will be sent to you.

Hotel Accommodations:

Hotel accommodations are at the discretion of the participant. A list of hotels and Airbnbs is provided. Several hotels are located in close vicinity (1 to 3 blocks) of Select Specialty Hospital.

100% of course tuition, less payment processing fees, will be refunded if cancellation is received 30 days prior to the course date. 50% of tuition, less payment processing fees, will be refunded if cancellation is less than 30 days prior to the course date. Cancellations must be in writing. All refunds returned following course date.
